Notable cases
Mr James enjoys a varied common law practice and was also a Pupil Master. During a busy career he has been involved in many notable cases, including Rogers v Night Riders (agency in contract/duty of care); Brace v South East London Housing Association (nuisance/right of support); Charles v Charles (matrimonial home/security of tenure); and Miles v Kingston Borough Council (extent of local authority's power to order compulsory purchase).

Criminal defence
Alongside general civil and family matters, Mr James regularly undertakes criminal defence work and is on the Crown Prosecution list who undertake prosecution work.
He is also authorised to deal direct with Public Access work subject to Bar Council Guidelines.
After working in the Temple for many years where he was latterly Head of Chambers, Mr James decided to relocate to Shepperton in 1991 with the ambition to build a new chambers catering for the needs of the local legal community.

Publications
Mr James' publications include Battle of the River Plate, Timothy Evans, and A Saxon and Londinium. following lengthy study of Romans in Britain. He was also, for several years, a contributor to and editor of his local residents association magazine. His interests include tree culture, deltiology and genealogy.
He is happily married, with three - now adult - children and four grandchildren
